Craniosacral therapy for babies

My baby is tight, fussy or favors one side

Craniosacral therapy is a very light touch, about five grams of pressure, that helps release tension in a baby's body. Restrictions from birth can make it hard to open wide, turn the head or suck well.

Babies Julie often works with

  • A difficult, very fast or assisted birth
  • Trouble opening wide or latching deeply
  • Turning the head only one way, or torticollis
  • A tongue or lip tie, before and after release
  • Symptoms that look like colic or reflux

What a session is like

It is so gentle that babies usually sleep, nurse, or stay alert and calm through the session. Many parents tell Julie it is the first time they have seen their baby fully relaxed.

Tension in a baby's body often shows up for mom as sore nipples or low supply. Working on both sides of the feed is the reason Julie's lactation visits are more than latch-on help.

What a craniosacral session with Julie looks like

Why Julie trained in it

For years Julie referred her babies out for craniosacral therapy. Then she went back to school, trained with the Upledger Institute and took advanced courses in infant care, so families could get it in the same visit. She works on babies every day, always with a parent's consent.

Questions moms ask

Is craniosacral therapy safe for newborns?

The touch is extremely light and your baby stays in your arms or beside you. Julie is a licensed massage therapist with advanced training in infant craniosacral work. It supports feeding care and is not a substitute for medical care from your pediatrician.

How many sessions will my baby need?

It depends on the baby. Julie will tell you what she finds at the first visit and what she recommends.

Can it be part of a lactation visit?

Yes. Julie offers it to all her baby clients as part of the visit, and one hour follow-up sessions are available at the office.
