A tongue tie is a restriction under the tongue that keeps it from moving the way it needs to. Your baby needs the tongue and lips working well to suck, seal, swallow and even breathe comfortably.

Signs a tie may be part of the picture
- Sore nipples, sometimes with recurring yeast or a bacterial infection
- Plugged ducts or mastitis from milk not draining well
- Your baby cannot hold the latch, slips off, or stays at the tip of the nipple
- Long feeds, and your baby never seems satisfied
- Slow weight gain, and your supply seems to be dropping
- Gas, spitting up, grunting, arching, poor sleep, or symptoms that look like colic or reflux
- Choking, coughing or gagging during feeds, at the breast or the bottle
- Milk leaking from the corners of your baby's mouth
How Julie helps
You and your baby may have some of these signs or all of them. Julie assesses how the tongue lifts and extends and how the lip flanges, and watches what that does to the feed.
If a release makes sense, she refers you to providers who do the procedure and helps you find one who takes your insurance. Then she supports the recovery: feeding plans, body work for your baby, and rebuilding supply if it has dipped.
She has seen hundreds of breastfeeding relationships saved by getting a restriction released. Feeding your baby is supposed to be easy and enjoyable.

Does Julie release tongue ties herself?
No. Julie assesses feeding and oral function, refers you to a provider for the release when it is needed, and handles the feeding support and body work before and after.
My pediatrician said there is no tie. Should I still come in?
If feeding hurts or your baby is struggling, yes. A feeding assessment looks at how the tongue works during a real feed, which a quick look in the mouth can miss.
Can craniosacral therapy help a baby with a tie?
Julie uses gentle craniosacral therapy to release tension in a baby's body that can make latching harder, before and after a release. It is included in her visits with a parent's consent.
